Micro packed bed technology

Hydrogenation is a conventional reaction operation in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries. Currently, traditional intermittent high-pressure hydrogenation kettles are commonly used in the industry, which have drawbacks such as high pressure, high cost, and frequent replacement of catalysts.

Jiangxi Chiyan uses a micro packed bed reactor and combines automation to transform intermittent high-pressure hydrogenation into a continuous flow process to achieve continuous feed of raw materials. It has the advantages of short residence time of reaction raw materials in the reactor, small liquid holding volume, less by-products of reaction liquid, high yield, low catalyst consumption and so on. At the same time, the whole operation process is safe and controllable, truly realizing Intrinsic safety. Jiangxi Chiyan's micro packed bed technology has been successfully applied to various reaction types, including but not limited to:

· Debenzylation reaction

· Nitro reduction reaction

· Olefin reduction reaction

· Reductive amination

· Selective pyridine reduction reaction

· Selective Dehydrohalogenation


Catalyst development and screening capabilities

The Jiangxi Chiyan Chemical and Engineering Technology Team continues to develop various catalysts for micro packed bed technology, including palladium (Pd (I/II)), platinum (Pt), and ruthenium (Ru), in order to seek better solutions, extend the catalyst's service life, and reduce costs.


Capacity of production: From laboratory to production scale

At present, the application of micro packed bed reactors in the pharmaceutical industry is mostly limited to laboratory scale to the kilogram level. However, Jiangxi Chiyan's partners have designed and built several micro packed bed reactors for production scale, with an annual production capacity of hundreds of tons.


Fully automatic process detection and control

Jiangxi Chiyan has equipped different specifications of micro packed bed reactors with DCS systems (distributed control systems) to achieve automatic detection and control of the entire production equipment. This advanced control system is equipped with multi-level warning and protection devices to ensure the accuracy, safety, and reliability of the production process.
